Kansas City Blues is Alive and Well!

If you are in the know, you’re well aware that Kansas City has one of the finest blues scenes, if not the finest blues scene (perhaps we’re partial?) in these United States.  It can be found on display each and every Tuesday night at The Westport Saloon where host Coyote Bill has been keeping the stage busy for the past 7 years!

The jam is open to any musician and is set up for performers to sign up with the instrument they plan to play.  As the list grows, Coyote Bill assembles bands on the fly, giving each incantation a 3 song run.  It’s the perfect situation for younger musicians and bands to build their chops and seasoned musicians to try out new material.

This week’s installment brought in a slew of talent with a wonderful surprise appearance by our old friend Nick Schnebelan.  If you love the blues, we encourage you to look into both his previous band, Trampled Underfoot, and his current solo and band projects.  He is certainly one of the best in the business and a treasure to the Kansas City live music scene.  Joined by Aaron Mayfield on drums, Cole Dillingham on Bass, and the legendary Tilney Ehrhardt on keys, Nick stole the show with another wonderful, memorable performance from our humble little stage.  Most importantly, the performers and the fans, all smiling ear to ear, clearly shared a moment of unity and hapiness.  In my humble opinion, this is exactly what the world needs more of!

If you haven’t been in to see what’s cooking lately at The Westport Saloon, we encourage you to do so!  Coyote Bill will be returning with his celebrity Boogie Band this Friday, 10/23, and Kansas City’s Old No. 5’s will be melting faces Saturday, 10/24.  And of course, don’t miss out on Scott H. Biram Monday 10/26.  Tickets are going fast on that one so we encourage you to snag ’em up while ya can!  And of course, we hope to see you back each and every Tuesday night for The Coyote Bill Blues Jam!  You never know who’ll stop in for some stage therapy!
