A unique mix of blues, bluegrass, punk, folk and metal infused in a folk-esque style of music. Folk with an edge is what most people say about Florida’s “Phantom” folk band Swamp Rats.
Swamp Rats was founded by Scotty Crow and R.T. Stack. After a short but successful stint R.T. went on a hiatus to deal with some personal problems. It was mainly R.T. who brought the traditional train hopping folk style to the stage with Scotty on back up vocals and primarily washboard. Since then, Scotty has teamed up with one of SWFLs most prominent metal guitarists Wes Cooper and two of the Heartlands most notable musicians Labdon and Andy.
Swamp Rats as a personality of a bipolar mud hopper from the swamp lands of Florida. Scotty Crow tells tales of sadness from both an inside and outside perspective. Wes Cooper preaches at the top of his lungs of the beauty of living and beer guzzling fun. Along the way Wes and Scotty stumbled a upon Labdon drinking his cares away at the local pub. In that very same pub they ran into the virtuoso Andy Starky. Together they bring a unique approach to folk music combining their various influences (folk, bluegrass, punk, blues and metal) in the mix that will have you guessing whats next.
