8pm: Jennifer Westwood

“Jennifer Westwood and the Handsome Devils sound like they made a serendipitous wrong turn on their way to the juke joint and wound up in a countrypolitan cathedral instead. It’s beautiful and ever so haunting. Westwood’s voice is sexy and strong as it applies the seduction over the band’s groove and thoughtful reserve…..And the Handsome Devils lay it down as pretty as their golden haired captain. It’s honky-tonk with a little less honky. It’s atmospheric yet immediate and approachable. It packs a wallop” – Rochester City Newspaper

At the heart of the band is Jennifer Westwood and guitarist Dylan Dunbar, who share an affection for gospel, Texas blues, Stax, and Muscle Shoals era artists. Jennifer cut her teeth on gospel in Detroit before hitting the gritty local bars that set her career in motion; along the way performing back up for acts including Motown’s Carl Carlton, adding several Detroit Music Awards to her credit, including one for work with Sponge (Sony) frontman Vin Dombroski on a traditional country recording (Lalar V).

10pm: Silver and Smoke

Since their formation in 2015, the members of Silver And Smoke have been blazing a trail in a genre they’ve coined as “Western Rock.” The Colorado-grown quartet draw from a variety of influences, including: blues, classic rock, soul, folk, country, punk, bluegrass, jazz, and classical – making their music one fiery combination.

In their first three years, members Ty Bray (vocals/guitar), Dino Ianni (lead guitar/saxophone), Tanner Boyle (drums), and Rick Brown (bass) have released three EPs (Workhorse – 2015, Marking Time – 2016, 30P – 2018), produced two music videos, have toured twice, and have been featured on various radio stations across North America.  Earlier this year, Silver And Smoke was named one of 303Magazine’s Local Bands To Watch.

12am: Old No 5s

The Old No. 5s are a powerful Blues / Rock / Roots trio from Kansas City.  Brock Alexander (guitarist / lead vocals), Olie Bowden (bass / vocals), and Adam Watson (percussion / vocals) make a formidable sound with power as well as precision.  Emerging in late 2011, the group has performed hundreds of shows every year for the past 8 years — forging a diverse sound and distinct style filled with nuances of Rock, Blues, Country, Groove, and Soul.

The Westport Saloon

Located in Kansas City’s historic Westport District, The Westport Saloon has become a midwest haven for the underground. Roots, Honky Tonk, Bluegrass, Blues, Blues Rock, Folk, Rockabilly, and that Twang you live for.

Like the settlers of Westport, we work tirelessly to bring amazing names to our stage. Over the years we have hosted acts such as Wayne “the Train” Hancock, Dale Watson, Moe Brandy, JD Wilkes, Jayke Orvis and the Broken Band,  The Goddamn Gallows, Slim Cessna’s Auto Club, Bob Wayne and the Outlaw Carnies, Luke Bell, The Hooten Hallers, Carries Nation and the Speakeasy and so many more.

Like the settlers of Westport, we are also known for our whiskey. Overtime, and as tastes have changed, we have amassed quite the collection to keep your glass filled and you coming back. Saloons predate prohibition establishments, when drinks were uncomplicated, not pretentious and hearty.  It’s alright to be heavy on the bourbon and Scotch – we don’t judge.
