Haunted Dolls

Hailing from Kansas City, Missouri, Haunted Dolls sound is a blend of garage rock and glam; think Iggy and the Stooges mixed with a healthy dose of The Kills and The Cramps set to a disco beat. They are a 3-piece band comprised of twin sisters, Analiese and Sophia who provide the rhythm section and backing vocals while their brother, Drew, bashes the guitar and sings lead. In short, Haunted Dolls’ music is catchy, gritty, energetic and danceable.

North by North

Formed in 2012, North by North is the sweat-fueled rock & roll fever-dream of two childhood friends from the south side of Chicago. Their music was forged through years of teen angst, twenty-something alienation and a profound belief that rock music can be genuinely clever and inventive. It’s a sound glued together by melodic hooks, soaring vocals, crushing guitar, bombastic drums and the kind of untethered energy that has won crowds over hundreds of shows and dozens of festivals across three countries.

To call Nate Girard (guitar, vocals) and Kendra Blank (drums) veterans of the road would be a massive understatement. They have toured full-time since 2016 and have played over 650 shows throughout the US, Canada and UK, all while handling their own booking, publicity and management through their independent label Double Hex Records.

Johnny Lawhorn and the Pentagram String Band

The hobo drifter, son of a grifter, Johnny Lawhorn, makes his way through speakeasies and gutters across the underbelly of America. While in Kansas City, Missouri, he forges the bluegrass group, The Pentagram String Band.

With a lineup of banjo, mandolin, stand-up bass, washboard, and hillbilly harmonies, their live shows are intense and lovesick. A tug-of-war between carnage and consequence.

Their first full length album, Buskers’ Boneyard (2019) features Liz Sloan (Urban Pioneers) on fiddle and Ike Goletz (Whiskey for the Lady) on jaw harp.

The Electric Lungs

The Electric Lungs formed in 2012 with the intent to push the boundaries of musical creation, allowing every song to take on a life of it’s own. There’s a playful contrast exemplified from the dank and dark “Catching Up” from Simplified and Civilized to the piano driven “Play It When You Need It” from Don’t Be Ashamed of the Way You Were Made. From album to album, The Electric Lungs’ cohesive style even makes these distinctively different songs sound like siblings.

The Electric Lungs have played a large varity of showcases and festivals because of their musical diversity including: The Folk Alliance International Conference, The Middle of the Map Festival, The Westport Roots Festival, and the Mid-Coast Takeover stage in Austin, Texas.

The Westport Saloon

Located in Kansas City’s historic Westport District, The Westport Saloon has become a midwest haven for the underground. Roots, Honky Tonk, Bluegrass, Blues, Blues Rock, Folk, Rockabilly, and that Twang you live for.

Like the settlers of Westport, we work tirelessly to bring amazing names to our stage. Over the years we have hosted acts such as Wayne “the Train” Hancock, Dale Watson, Moe Brandy, JD Wilkes, Jayke Orvis and the Broken Band,  The Goddamn Gallows, Slim Cessna’s Auto Club, Bob Wayne and the Outlaw Carnies, Luke Bell, The Hooten Hallers, Carries Nation and the Speakeasy and so many more.

Like the settlers of Westport, we are also known for our whiskey. Overtime, and as tastes have changed, we have amassed quite the collection to keep your glass filled and you coming back. Saloons predate prohibition establishments, when drinks were uncomplicated, not pretentious and hearty.  It’s alright to be heavy on the bourbon and Scotch – we don’t judge.
