About the Bands:

Ghosts of Grandad’s Past: “Ghosts of Grandads Past play a sad bastard mix of roots, folk, punk, and goth to make our own brand of gloom n’ doom. Mutual love of depressing tunes & stories lead us to this point. Members of Whiskey Breath, the Corpses, Box Herders Still Shine Railroad and many others…”

The Barrom Billies: “In the beginning we all thought we were making a honky tonk band. After awkwardly getting to know one another over copious amounts of booze, we realized there was some punk, some old country and some rock bursting through the cracks of our songs. What the hell, sounds good, lets keep it. Those undertones came from our roots. The music some of us grew up with, the music some of had made, and the music we wanted to be making. Guess you could say that’s where the genre of roots music came from (in our minds anyways): A bunch of old punk rockers who refuse to go full country, but can’t help being drawn to bluegrass. And with each new song they write, their ‘roots’ just keep showing through.”

Freight Train Rabbit Killer: “The band Freight Train Rabbit Killer is made up of Kris Bruders (Freight Train) and Mark Smeltzer (Rabbit Killer) Freight Train Rabbit Killer is a duet. Described as a heavy doom blues American Roots opera – a shaman of the hills and a vigilante bent on justice. We have been performing at home (Kansas City MO) and on the road for about 3 years. Our live shows have been described as being intense. a freaking fantastic musical journey. Creepy and honest. It’s storytelling through music. Doom blues. Screaming electric guitars. All accompanied by suits and masks.”

With a beautiful Whiskey and Tequila selection, welcoming atmosphere, and friendly staff, The Westport Saloon will likely become your favorite Kansas City stop…”

Four Roses – “It began when Paul Jones, Jr., the founder of Four Roses Bourbon, became smitten by the beauty of a Southern belle. It is said that he sent a proposal to her, and she replied that if her answer were “Yes,” she would wear a corsage of roses on her gown to the upcoming grand ball. Paul Jones waited for her answer excitedly on that night of the grand ball…when she arrived in her beautiful gown, she wore a corsage of four red roses. He later named his Bourbon “Four Roses” as a symbol of his devout passion for the lovely belle, a passion he thereafter transferred to making his beloved Four Roses Bourbon.”
