Twang Daddies, Taylor Smith Trio, Carrie Nation and the Speakeasy

8pm

Twang Daddies

Twang Daddies are from Lawrence and Stilwell Kansas and play great American music featuring the “Big Four” of Johnny Cash, George Jones, Merle Haggard and Buck Owens.

10pm

Taylor Smith Trio

Originally from North Carolina, Taylor Smith has been playing guitar since he was 11 years old. He moved to Kansas City in October of 2016. Since then, he has been busy performing all over the KC live music circuit. Taylor represented the Kansas City Blues Society at the annual 2018 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee. He is described as a spontaneous and in the moment artist, every night being different from the last. Influenced by many of the greats such as Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa, B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, the list goes on and on. He enjoys working off of the crowd, so he tries to have a little something for everyones musical preferences. It may be rock or country or reggae or it may swing, who knows? Its always different and thats just the way he likes it.

11:45pm

Carrie Nation and the Speakeasy

A high-energy “Brass ‘n’ Grass” sextet from Wichita, KS. The band, whose sound has been described as “…a stagecoach in overdrive”, has brought their eclectic blend of bluegrass, ska, punk, and dixieland to packed clubs, basements, and festivals across the US since their inception in the spring of 2007.

CNS has built a solid following playing 47 states and 5 countries with their energetic live show and ability to fit on the bill with acts ranging from bluegrass to rockabilly; punk to ska. As the banjo rolls over rhythmic guitar, breakneck mandolin solos melt into blaring trombone and trumpet lines, while the standup bass and feed-bucket-trap-set churn out driving rhythms that carry the force of a Kansas freight train.

The Westport Saloon

Located in Kansas City’s historic Westport District, The Westport Saloon has become a midwest haven for the underground. Roots, Honky Tonk, Bluegrass, Blues, Blues Rock, Folk, Rockabilly, and that Twang you live for.

Like the settlers of Westport, we work tirelessly to bring amazing names to our stage. Over the years we have hosted acts such as Wayne “the Train” Hancock, Dale Watson, Moe Brandy, JD Wilkes, Jayke Orvis and the Broken Band,  The Goddamn Gallows, Slim Cessna’s Auto Club, Bob Wayne and the Outlaw Carnies, Luke Bell, The Hooten Hallers, Carries Nation and the Speakeasy and so many more.

Like the settlers of Westport, we are also known for our whiskey. Overtime, and as tastes have changed, we have amassed quite the collection to keep your glass filled and you coming back. Saloons predate prohibition establishments, when drinks were uncomplicated, not pretentious and hearty.  It’s alright to be heavy on the bourbon and Scotch – we don’t judge.
