About the Bands:

Amarugia Ridge Runners: “We are the Amarugia Ridge Runners! Our name comes from the Amarugia Highlands conservation area south of Freeman, Missouri and roughly 49 miles south of Kansas City, Missouri. We are a group of four young and adventurous musicians raised in the deep history and folklore surrounding the highlands. The Amarugia Highlands have historically been home to mysteries, moonshiners and music. Our connection to this land and love of the rich history has drawn us together. We perform a mix of folk, blues, old country, and bluegrass. John Allin, Jesse Bauerle, Clay Dahman, and Jesse Wilhelmson come together to create amazing music and long-lasting memories. We hope you will join us on this exciting journey!”

Trashcan Bandits: “The Trashcan Bandits – A wooden rollercoaster of Gypsy Pirate Blues and Scowling Irish Swampgrass.

“Well we sold our souls for the Devil’s Gold. Oh! But just one thing: WE NEVER PAID!!!!!!!!”

A four piece eclectic group of musicians hailing from the beautiful hills of Fayetteville, Arkansas. All four members come from completely different places: Joplin, Kansas City, Springdale, and Little Rock; and because of this, we all bring completely different flavors to the table. The Trashcan Bandits has heavy influneces in Delta Blues, all sorts of Jazz, and even Punk and Metal. The truth is, they have a fascination with anything original, no matter the genre. So, what you get is a wide array of attitudes within our music. They’ve got think acoustic guitar and growling grumbly vocals, subwoofy bass and thunderous jazz drums. Did I mention the CLARINET? Patti riffs and rocks the clarinet, mandolin, and spoons.

They start out with a punch to the jowl with an up tempo heart pounding nautical themed juggernaut, and then they take you on a stroll down the French Quarter on a hot afternoon. They have a western wind blown gunslinger that will make you raise your fist up to the sky to strike the lightning. They also can bluegrass it a bit if ya like or even sing you an Irish dirge. Shoot, Dane will tell you a dark fairy tale, Tim Burton approved. They’ll drink and jig with ya, or they’ll sing campfire songs too.

The Trashcan Bandits are a life swilling bunch of vagabonds making swampgrass stew.

They’ve had the privilege of playing with:
The Ben Miller Band
Dirtfoot
The Hillbenders
Carrie Nation and the Speakeasy
Randall Shreve and the Sideshow
Honkey Suckle
The Shotgun Brothers
Chucky Waggs
Shawn James
Caddywhompus
The Banks of Trent Creek
Loaded Goat
and all those at Riverstomp Festival!”

Dan Bliss: “Dan Bliss is a performer with a well traveled repertoire of traditional blues, folk and swing tunes. His songwriting is showcased along with his trademark fingerstyle guitar work and vocals on the latest CD “That’s What I’m Here For”.

Bliss plays about 200 shows a year in Kansas City and around the Midwest and has opened for artists such as Steve James, Marcia Ball, Honeyboy Edwards, Henry Townsend, Johnnie Johnson, The Nace Brothers, The Waybacks and John McCutcheon. He has twice made the top three (2005 & 2007) in the International Fingerstyle Guitar Championship at the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield KS and has appeared three times at the New York State Blues Festival in his hometown of Syracuse NY.

Bliss has made his home for over 20 years in Kansas City, inspired by the traditions of blues and jazz and the incredible wealth of local talent. While his focus is solo acoustic performance, he has also played with Kelley Hunt and his own band Bluetonium. These days in addition to solo shows he also plays regular duo gigs with legendary KC guitarist Rod Fleeman.

Quotes:
“There is his ornery side-ways smile and just a hint of a nasal drawl infusing each tune with a muddy, crawfish authenticity.”
