Located in Kansas City’s historical Westport District, The Westport Saloon has become the Midwest’s home for Roots, Honky-Tonk, and Twang, with free live music every night of the week. Our home at Mabry Hall, Kansas City’s oldest building, built in 1843, houses The Saloon, as well as our close partners Little Class Records.
We work closely together to bring in amazing acts to our small stage. We have hosted acts such as Wayne “The Train” Hancock, Dale Watson, Black Oak Arkansas, Jayke Orvis and the Broken Band, Slim Cessna’s Auto Club, Bob Wayne and the Outlaw Carnies, The Calamity Cubes, Luke Bell, The Hooten Hallers, Carrie Nation and the Speakeasy, and Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear: Just to name a few.
Customers are blown away with our attentive and friendly staff, extensive whiskey and tequila selections, and award winning comfort food from the Eat Me Gourmet kitchen.
Sunday nights are a local’s dream with AJ Gaither hosting Chicken n’ Pickin’, an acoustic song swap. Patrons enjoy home-style fried chicken dinners while some of Kansas City’s best pickers share standards and original Country and Bluegrass numbers on stage.
Mondays, we turn the stage loose to harmonica and blues prodigy Brody Buster. Brody will amaze you with his one man band and guests.
Tuesdays we start early with Writers on the Rocks; A Songwriters Circle. Hosted by Tyler Giles, you will be awed by the performances at this weekly affair. Writers has played host to songwriting heavyweights Willy Tea Taylor, Tom VandenAvond, Ray Vietti, and many more.
Wednesdays its all about bluegrass as Kansas City’s own Grassfed hosts Pickin’ n’ Fishin’. Customers enjoy some of the areas best bluegrass pickers along with our wildly popular Catfish Dinner special.
Thursday night, we have our very own Dusty Rust and the Roamin’ Oklahomans filling the room with the sweet sounds of steel guitars and telecasters. You will want to wear you dancing boots for this high energy honky-tonk show. Customers can also enjoy bottomless bowls of our homestyle spaghetti dinners.
Fridays and Saturdays we kick off live music at 8pm with 3-4 band bills playing up until 2am. Being in the heart of kansas City’s busiest and oldest entertainment district, along with an army of loyal, music loving regulars, ensures a packed house and tons of fun.
The Westport Saloon is here to support the musicians and the fans that make the world a better place. We hope to share some songs and some stories with you real soon.
