Located in Kansas City’s historical Westport district, The Westport Saloon has become the Midwest’s home for Roots, Honky-tonk, and twang with free live music every night of the week. Our home at Mabry Hall, Kansas City’s oldest building, built in 1843, houses The Saloon, as well as our close partners Little Class Records.
We work closely together to bring in amazing acts to our small stage. We have hosted acts such as Wayne “The Train” Hancock, Black Oak Arkansas, Jayke Orvis and the Broken Band, Bob Wayne and the Outlaw Carnies, The Calamity Cubes, Luke Bell, The Hooten Hallers, Carrie Nation and the Speakeasy, and Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear: just to name a few.
Customers are blown away with our attentive and friendly staff, over 100 whiskey selections, and award winning food from the Eat Me Gourmet kitchen.
Sunday nights are a local’s dream with AJ Gaither hosting Chicken and Pickin’, an acoustic song swap. Customers enjoy home-style fried chicken dinners while some of Kansas City’s best pickers share standards and original Country and Bluegrass numbers on stage.
Mondays, we turn the stage loose to harmonica a blues prodigy Brody Buster, hosting one of Kansas City’s most popular open mic nights.
Tuesdays are all about the Blues as Coyote Bill and Jeremy Butcher host Kansas City’s best open blues jam. Every Tuesday night, the Westport Saloon is packed with the best blues musicians Kansas City has to offer, with regular appearances by Samantha Fish, CJ Walker, and many more. This night has also had a history of cameo appearances by Andy Frasco and Whitey Morgan and the 78’s.
Wednesday nights, we turn to Bluegrass standards with Hash and Grass hosted by up and comers, Them Pickless Fools. Dobros, banjos, mandolins, and fiddles fill the air while customers enjoy a weekly Hash Special brought to you by the Eat Me Gourmet team.
Thursdays are a two-steppers dream as Dusty Rust hosts Spaghetti Western Thursdays. While enjoying all you can eat, made from scratch spaghetti, customers are treated to a classic spaghetti western film from 6-8 pm. Then we kick it up the rest of the evening with our Honky-Tonk jam with the best pickers and twang makers in the area sitting in with Dusty Rust and the Roamin’ Oklahomans.
Fridays and Saturdays we kick off live music at 8pm with 3-4 band bills playing up until 2am. Being in Kansas City’s busiest entertainment district ensures a packed house and tons of fun.
The Westport Saloon is here to support the musicians and the fans that make the world a better place. We hope to share some songs and some stories with you real soon.
